Scot Hornick

Double and Electric bassist Scot Hornick has been keeping busy with numerous projects since his return to the NYC area in 2004. Following his love of all music Scot has performed everything from jazz (traditional, big band, standards, modern, improv based), country, classical, rockabilly, theater, blues and swing, latin, singer/songwriters of all types as well as heavy metal . In the past year alone Scot has recorded Big Band Music with legendary producer Teo Macero, Metal Band Dim Mak, Jazz Groups- Mike MacAllister Trio, Dan Venne and the Semi-Finalists as well as appearing on numerous projects in different styles.

Having just finished his MA at NYU, Scot was fortunate enough to study and perform with such greats as: Kenny Werner, Chris Potter, Gil Goldstein, Dafnis Prieto, George Garzone, Ralph Alessi, Brian Lynch, Mike Richmond, Jim McNeely, Lenny Pickett, and John Scofield- including a performance at the Blue Note with the Scofield Sextet Ensemble playing the music of Scofield. Scot also recorded a CD Produced and Written by Jazz Legend Teo Macero, with performances at Birdland and the Blue Note as well as IAJE.

Scot completed his Bachelor of Music in 98 at Berklee College of Music where he was guided by some great instructors including Whit Browne, Bruce Gertz, Rich Appleman and many others. Outside of school Scot has performed at Master Classes led by Cecil Taylor, Christian McBride, the Heath Brothers and Victor Wooten. Scot has also taken lessons with Bassists Ray Brown, Scott Colley and Anthony Cox. He continues to study via correspondence with Charlie Banacos.

Currently you can see and hear Scot performing with the Mike MacAllister Trio, The Semi-Finalists, Dave Gross Band, Dennis Gruenling and Jump Time, Gina Fox Band, Gina Sicilia Band as well as in many other groups as a freelance bassist. Scot has performed on about 20 recordings so far as a sideman and is hoping to soon record an all original CD within the next year.
